What is Exploratory Study?
Exploratory Study, often referred to as "undecided," is a flexible academic track that allows students to explore different majors while receiving support from academic advisors. Instead of choosing a major right away, students get the opportunity to discover their interests and career goals before making a commitment.
At Grand Valley, hundreds of students begin their college journey on the Exploratory Study track each year. They know Grand Valley is the right place for them, but want the freedom to explore different subjects to find the perfect fit. The Exploratory Advising Center is here to help, providing guidance and resources so students can confidently choose a major that aligns with their passions and professional aspirations.
If you’re unsure about your academic path, you’re not alone—Exploratory Study gives you the chance to find your future on your own terms!

We encourage you to indicate in the "notes" of your appointment that you have not yet declared a major and what major you are leaning towards, as this will help facilitate the conversations.
